The most important thing:

First, if you notice swelling of a battery, it is important to stop using the battery or the device containing the battery immediately and take steps to dispose of the battery properly. To properly dispose of a swollen battery, make sure to place the battery on a non-flammable surface or inside a fire-proof container.

The reason can be:

1. This Li-ion battery case needs to be protected from beating, falling, dropping, colliding, and violent operating, or it could cause the inner problem to the battery case to make it work abnormally and then become swollen.

2. There are kinds of chargers with different working voltage in the market, if you charge the battery with a mismatched charger, it will damage the inner protecting board circuit of the battery due to a large voltage input, which could cause a short circuit to the battery and be burnt.

3. Overcharge conditions that accelerate parasitic reactions between the electrodes and electrolyte, with the release of heat and gases.

4. The battery case working temperature environment is 0-40°C, please do not use the battery under a high temperature for a long time, and please do not leave your cell phone inside your car. Or the battery cells will be damaged and swollen.

The suggestions for you when it happens:

1. Please stop using or charging the battery immediately and take it out from your cell phone.

2. Please do not throw the battery in the trash. The battery should be disposed of at a recycling center that can handle e-waste.

How to prevent a swollen battery case?

1. Try to not leave the battery case plugged in. Lithium-ion batteries are meant to cycle – discharge and recharge – so keeping it plugged in all the time means that it can’t exercise to its capacity. This is especially important for laptop batteries that are used at home or in the office.

2. Use the correct power charger. Sometimes the original power charger gets lost or damaged and a new one is sought. Going for a cheap option might seem like good economy, but it may not have the same power output and could damage your battery or device, making it a poor choice.

3. Replace the battery if it is damaged or no longer performing as it should. All batteries eventually fail so if the signs are there, take action and replace the battery.

4. Store the device in a cool, dry environment. Hot cars and humid environments are enemies of battery health.
